With which client would I have the most difficulty working?

According to my beliefs the negative member is the most difficult to handle. According to Jacobs, Masson and Harvill the negative client is one who has a tendency to find problems with everything. A negative client is capable of transforming a group session into a gripe session. (Jacobs, Masson and Harvill, 2006) A negative client causes a negative influence on the group as a whole and is capable of instigating a feeling of discontent among other group members. Presence of one or more negative client in a group may lead to lowering of the groups morale.How would I handle a negative client in a group? My reactions against unreasonable demands of a negative client would probably be instinctive. I would resort to direct confrontation with the negative client, although this would not be the ideal course of action since Jacobs, Masson and Harvill have recommended that group leaders should refrain from direct confrontation because it only leads to time consuming arguments between the leade r and a negative client. How would Jacobs, Masson and Harvill have handled a negative client?Jacobs, Masson and Harvill suggest three alternative courses of action which will enable the leader to effectively handle a negative client. The first course of action is to talk to the negative client outside the group and try determining the reason for his unacceptable behavior. In most cases negative clients suffer from lack of attention and the problem can be solved if they are offered an important role. The second option as suggested by Jacobs, Masson and Harvill involves identifying the positive members of the group (ie those members who are contented with the group).By talking to the positive members in a group a leader can motivate those members who have been influenced by the negative client. The third option calls for de motivating and isolating a negative client. This goal can be achieved if the group leader avoids making an eye contact with the negative client while addressing th e group as a whole. Incase neither of the 3 courses of action are successful in improving the negative client, Jacobs, Masson and Harvill suggest that asking the negative client to leave is only option that the leader is left with. If there are any members in my group who have taken up the role of a negative client?What effect has it had on the group? I have encountered negative clients in my group; such group members cause a lot of problem. They create a wide spread feeling of discontent among the group which leads to fragmentation of the group. The group gets subdivided into two sections one of which harbors feeling of negativity and discontent and the other section comprises of positive members who are satisfied with the current state of affairs. Fragmentation of a group results in loss of productivity. Therefore it is important to prevent the group member from acquiring negative tendencies.

National Identity Over the Course of Time Peter Sahlins...

Communities throughout history have always sought to define who they are as a collective whole. Over the course of time, it was this that helped bind nations together through a collective sense of national identity and belonging. Although there are some set definitions that people use to define who collectively are, such as their own language and national history, this is not the only explanation of how groups of people have conceived who they are. In reality, communities have primarily conceived who they are by comparing themselves to an ‘other’ who they are not. As the historian Peter Sahlins put it, national identity over the course of time has been constructed â€Å"by the social or territorial boundaries drawn to distinguish the collective†¦show more content†¦As a cultural apparatus, Orientalism is all aggression, activity, judgment, will-to-truth, and knowledge.† In other words, this incredibly convincing argument put forward by Said entails that in the past, the West defined the ‘Orient’ as the ‘other’ by comparing it to the West, particularly in terms of the West’s power against the perceived weakness of the East. For example, in a speech to the House of Commons in June 1910, the British politician Arthur Balfour that because of Britain’s supreme knowledge over Egypt, they had been â€Å"put in a position of supremecy.† Combined with this notion of agency over the ‘Orient’, Balfour used the rhetoric of ‘us’ (Britain), and ‘them’ (Egypt), throughout his speech. This gives a clear suggestion that Britain was using the notion of the Eastern ‘other’ to define who they themselves were as a community, that being the ‘dominators’ of the Eastern world. Therefore, it is true to say that communities in history have sought to define themselves as superior by looking at who they are not. The use of notions of ‘usâ⠂¬â„¢ and ‘them’ in conceiving communities was not confined to modern times. It has been in existence throughout much of recorded history, meaning the whole scope of time should be explored in order to fully understand the issue. It was incredibly prevalent in both the Roman and Early Medieval world, where it principally related to the difference between civilised man and the barbarian.

Exploring Poverty and Education Education and poverty is a difficult subject to explore. Many views are held when it comes to the value of education for the underprivileged and whether or not it is the key to removing an individual from an impoverished condition. â€Å"The Social Animal†, a book by David Brooks, explores this subject of poverty and education through the life of one of his characters named Erica. Graffiti as Expression Art Essay Graffiti for me is a graphic expression that expresses the inner personality of the applied, in which the basic tool is spray paint, these expressions are seen in the streets and public places, that have a primary purpose which is to show the presence or the existence of any individual, all these expressions that are made with the graffiti are clandestinely and all the time with risky, because it damages the image of the streets and public and private places, each drawn of graffiti on the streets of any place in the city requires a lot of creativity and ability to perform each of the expressions or feelings of these anonymous authors reflect, which most are young guys. In my own opinion I think that graffiti is an art form that can be valid and accepted by society, its just a matter of giving these young artists the opportunity and confidence necessary for them to prove that it is an art form that meets all requirements to be admired and recognized as any artwork of some famous painter, and so in this way it could be shown and give any special space for them to realize their creativity and feelings they want to show in their work. Gradually, we have seen today that as many communities are giving them the space and opportunity for them to express themselves freely and to prove they are not just a scribble or simple reflected or paints on a wall or in a train car stripes, because for them these paintings has a very important meaning that people do not know, maybe its a type of communicating they use express to people as their daily lives, or are living that life, or simply to forget any problems they may have at home these children, or by a simple passion to art and color, and when they are going to do some kind of graffiti they already have in mind a kind of design, shape, color, perspective, etc. because like many things called art, this has many features to get into the category of being a good work of art, since it authors can express their feelings and do so in a different way which we are all used to seeing in an art gallery. But this does not mean it cannot be called art. Maybe I agree that many aspects that the authors of these works shows and express that they feel is not right, and you can take them into conflict with the people around you for doing this kind of art in one place specific, and this will guide them to have some aggressive behavior, because they think that people do not understand them when they want to reflect their skill at anywhere and in the instant they are feeling, but this is because not everyone accepts it as something recreational, since most of these young people just walk down the street wandering around and people think they might be a bad influence in the future for those which is in contact with this type of urban art. The important statement of this is to show young people that are interested in learning techniques of graffiti the difference between graffiti art or vandalism, could be called art when these techniques are used in a permitted place, since all this could be related to the art, history and culture of a Country, considering and reflecting many of the famous artists painted their works of art on the walls, with the only difference that using other media, another personal point of view is that the graffiti could have an important place in the branch of art, or maybe it already is part of it, which is most likely, because it requires much knowledge to create something like this because it combines several technique’s art in a single drawing, with unique and different from the rest of the other designs, by this way should be valued differently to other forms of art manner, appreciating that may also have the same sentimental value as any work of art, and maybe not everyone might hav e the same opinion as me, but for me I think thats what really matters whenever a work of art is being developed, should be done with what we have within ourselves, do it with heart.
